Corvallis American Legion Post #91 announced its election of officers and executive committeemen during its monthly post meeting held on the 17th of April, 2008. Reelected to a one year term, starting July 1, 2008, was Doug Mason – commander, Alex Ivanoff – 1st vise commander, Dick Sublette – 2nd vise commander, Roy Meyer – adjutant, Frank Mason – finance officer, Dominic Farrenkopf – historian, Larry Johnson – chaplain, Ike Slaughter, and Tom Devine – executive committeemen. Elected to a one year term as new officers and executive committeemen, were Donald Tibbs – sergeant at arms, Larry Niezgodzki – service officer and Edna Nasca – executive committeemen. The American Legion was chartered by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic, war-time veterans organization, devoted to mutual helpfulness. It is a not-for-profit community-service organization which now numbers nearly 3 million members, men and women, in nearly 15,000 American Legion posts worldwide.
